Chibi Art
For a brief time in 2021, I experimented with chibi-style drawings of characters that I'd created for a book series. I'd written a rough draft of the series several years ago and always intended on going through another draft, but I have a hard time with focusing on writing. Drawing is a bit more fun.
The series is about a boy named Scarecrow Jack who gets an offer to learn magic from his grandfather Faust, the most powerful magic-user in the Kingdom of Gloria.
Various friends and family of Scarecrow. From left to right; Malcolm Grey, Rebecca Riot, Ezrafel Shalenigh, Fort Wall, Gorgon Wall, Holly Mistletoe, Belgium, and Dr. Strix Mistletoe.
Scarecrow's fellow apprentices who are learning magic with him. From left to right; Christina Grimorie (and her talking hat Borsalino), Shanshi Apu, Otohime Fuwa, Symphonia, Morgana Durandel, and Azhar Naja Ibrahim.
Scarecrow's grandfather Faust, alongside his three subordinates, the Three Wise Monkeys: Snow White (speak no evil), Kaspar (see no evil), and Meretseger (hear no evil). Although the Egyptian goddess Meretseger is a cobra, this Meretseger is based on the snake species Telescopus Tripolitanus.
The main antagonist of the first book in the series, Megan Echo (the blue-haired woman in glasses. Her name is a pun on meganekko, the "glasses girl" character archetype in anime). Her minions are, from left to right; Emily "ELF" LaFontaine, Aaron Talent, Sanawon Park, Haycock, Castella Lipman, Henrietta Guignol, and Erasmus Huxley.
The protagonist of this series, Scarecrow Jack (the pink-haired boy), alongside his friends Margaret Blue, Netanel Banks, and Penguin.
