Gallery 2024
A photo gallery created for my third semester Photography class. Each student had to pick a theme for their gallery, so I decided to make all my images something surreal.
My family cut down the trees that had been in my backyard since I was kid because they were old and dying. I have a collection of these wooden artist hands, so I thought of the idea of the old wood being reborn as something new.
A crime scene photo. The White Rabbit knew that the Queen of Hearts wouldn't be happy with him being late. Puppet originally from Cambrian Players' May 2022 adaptation of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Designed by Thomas Macdonald and built by Mary Davis.
When I used to play tabletop roleplaying games, I loved collecting new sets of colourful dice. The potential those dice provided were infinite, but the desire to buy more and more was quite the addiction.
Makeup carries a lot of dangers with it. You're either wearing too much, wearing too little, wearing it wrong, shouldn't be wearing it at all, etc.
I'd recently read Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer, which features a creature that writes strange messages on the walls of a tower. I traced the outline of a classmate and started writing random phrases that came to mind on the whiteboard walls of a classroom.
I had braces when I was younger and recently found the mould of my teeth from that early visit to the orthodontist. I wanted to take a photo of the teeth hiding somewhere, and this basket of clothes seemed like a nice spot for something to lurk.
In my college's film department, I was drawn to a mannequin torso hanging in the studio's costume room. Using a coat from that room and a box of fake flowers from props, I spent some time in the studio's living room set creating a peaceful scene.
The battery in my Nintendo 3DS had started to swell, so after I took out the battery, I decided to set up this scene using some Kirby figures from a stacking game.
